Tortoise Versus Hare Rock Racing

Eric Amato is the owner and driver of TVH Rock Racing. He has been involved in recreational off-roading since 2003 and a member of participating clubs in the North East Association of 4WD Clubs (NEA) since 2004. In 2010, he began his competitive off-road career by teaming up with long time friend and fellow 4-wheeler, Richard Seymour, to form TVH Rock Racing.

The team ended up winning 4 out of 6 races to take the Unlimited Class title in the 2010 North East Rock Racing Series (NERRS) which was a local short course race series taking place in front of hundreds and sometimes thousands of spectators at fair grounds across New England. Pit crew members changed every race depending on availability but always consisted of a trusted, knowledgeable, core group of friends who were dedicated to keeping the car going.

In October 2010, the team traveled to Rausch Creek Offroad Park in Pine Grove, PA to compete in the last race of the season for the RCRocs regional Ultra 4 series. This was a 50 mile race, much longer than the team had competed in to date, and unfortunately ended in a Did Not Finish (DNF) due to a series of mechanical failures. The team came away from this race with many lessons learned and an enthusiastic interest in becoming more involved in endurance rock racing on a higher level of competition.
